As we examine the conditions of Cuyahoga County, we realize that some of our westside suburbs are thriving while our eastside suburbs are trying to survive. Many of us understand that something must be done during these trying times. We look to our Left for HOPE, and we look to our Right for opportunities that may or may not be there. We know that in the midst of looking for great leaders, we have to go on...go on and seek the impossible while waiting for the visible to show up to help us go on and do what will make all of us satisfied.
Today is a great day! As other community's struggle to find good leaders, Maple Heights is lucky. This community is very fortunate to have a young lady, who is a powerhouse to step up and stand up to help the city move forward. Annette M. Blackwell is an 18 year resident of Maple Heights; she's a mother of three and grandmother of four. Candidate Blackwell and Mr. Blackwell hold strong family values. Their youngest daughter, Cyan is a stellar student at Maple Heights City Schools. In addition to this, Candidate Blackwell is the Parent Academy Coordinator of the parent skill- building program at Maple Heights City Schools. Intimately, she knows the struggles of some of the families living in this community.
Their desire for better schools, safer neighborhoods, rising property values, attractive and clean streets, community shopping, responsive and diverse safety forces and a city government with hope and vision for the city coupled with hard work and civility towards one another are issues that concern most of us, and issues that are on the forefront of Candidate Blackwell’s agenda.
Candidate Blackwell has a quality of life consciousness where it relates to seniors and youth. Her priority is to lead a city that is fiscally responsible, progressive and emerging. She marvels in commercial economic development projects; storefront renovation; new residential construction projects for Millennials and seniors; small business expansion and sustainability.
Candidate Blackwell is a successful business woman, working in corporate America. For the last 15 years, she has worked for some of the biggest accounting and tax firms in the world, including Deloitte & Touche.
